I am a retired Washington, D.C. shoe retailer. As such, I never buy anything retail and am a real sucker for a sale shirt.
My mother bought me a new Haspel poplin suit every year, one year blue, next year tan. They were my summer uniform. I grew up in Washington, D.C., in the fifties, and the heat and humidity made Haspel a necessity! Just like New Orleans!
However, I digress. When I received your e-mail, the Haspel name brought back a flood of memories. So far, I have purchased three cotton shirts & and a hunter green wool sweater to shoot skeet in the fall.
The cotton shirts are so soft, and the artistry so fine, that I know they will be favorites for years to come. I love all the small details, like the buttons and different blocks of color lining and cording. The fit was custom-made for me, size large, just like my 151/2-33 from Brooks Brothers.
I am sorry that I do not buy retail. I will take the time to tell all of my friends about my experience and not mention your wonderful sales.
